Jamie McCrimmon is a fictional character from the series Doctor Who . Jamie is probably best remembered as the 2nd Doctor's main companion and serves as somewhat of a sidekick to him. The character is Scottish, he speaks with a thick Highlander accent and always wears a kilt. He first appears in the episode The Highlanders , where the Doctor and his friends, Ben and Polly go to Scotland in 1746, during the Jacobite uprising aginst the British Army. Jamie is one of the Jacobite rebels. Jamie joins the TARDIS crew and has many exciting adventures with the Doctor. At the end of The War Games , the 2nd Doctor's last story, he is returned to 18th century Scotland and his memory is erased.This Scottish character was the inspiration for Diana Gabaldon's setting for her Outlander book series set in the Scottish Highlands of the 18th century.
