Jeanine Matthews is the sole representative from Erudite, leaving her as the leader of the faction. Matthews forges a secret alliance with the leaders of Dauntless, save Tobias Eaton, to enslave their respective factions through a mind-manipulating serum. Jeanine also aims to capture Beatrice Prior and other Divergents to experiment with, as Divergents are immune to her serum, and pose the greatest threat to her plans for total domination.
