Joe is Pontypandys Brummie mechanic. He is overly excitable and is a bit like a kid that has never grown up (a kid with an obsession for Meccano and Lego). Whatever the kids are up to, he will always want to have a go, whether its skateboarding or building a go-cart. His hero is Brunel and as such is always adapting his engineering and mechanical talents to create things that he deems exciting it could be a rocket powered hovercraft or a hot air balloon. His ideas and schemes are always ambitious and usually way too ambitious! He is a good mechanic, so he has the ability to execute his ideas, just not the foresight to see where it will all end up.
