Joseph Reed
Joseph Reed
Prior to the Revolution, Reed was one of Philadelphias finest attorneys. Until 1778 he served as Pennsylvania delegate to Congress. He then helped the states attorney general prosecute 23 suspected Loyalists for treason. Although he lost most of these cases, he became known as one of the citys most zealous patriots. He took on the investigation and prosecution of Benedict Arnold. (Smithsonian, May 2016)
