A character from the Bible. Jacob's eleventh son; the first one from Rachel. Along with his great-grandfather Abraham, grandfather Isaac and father Jacob, he is one of the Patriarchies. Being the first son by his mother, most beloved by Jacob, Joseph became his father's favorite son and a bit spoiled. He had two dreams about becoming more powerful than his brothers and parents, and also got a very beautiful robe. Except for Benjamin, the other ten brothers were irritated by the fact that their fahter loved Joseph more. They showed it by first throwing him into a well and then selling into slavery in Egypt. However, he became his family's savior through this.
