Jud Crandall lives across the street from the Creeds, and introduces them to the town of Ludlow. He and Dr Louis Creed quickly become friends, and Jud - regrettably - introduces Louis to the town's pet cemetery (or pet sematary ). Fred Gwynne is much younger than the character of Jud, with Gwynne being in his early sixties in 'Pet Sematary' and Jud being over eighty years old. (However, in the novel, Louis frequently observes how Jud seems remarkably healthy, alert and spry for his age, especially given the character's vices of frequent drinking and chain smoking.)
