Karl Mozart is a character based on Karl Mozart, the son of Wolfgang and Constanze Mozart.Born on September 21, 1784 in Vienna, Karl Thomas Mozart was one of the only two of his parents' six children to survive infancy. Mozart died when Karl was seven years old. Constanze sent him and his younger brother Franz to Prague - a city which had enthusiastically supported their father - to be educated by music critic Franz Xaver Niemetschek, who wrote the first authorized biography of Mozart. Niemetschek claimed to have known the composer, but biographers doubt they ever met.In 1797, Karl moved to Livorno, Italy to apprentice for a trading firm. He planned to open a piano store, but failed for lack of funds. He moved to Milan in 1805 to study with composer Bonifacio Asioli, but quit in 1810 to become an official in the service of the Viceroy of Napoli. He frequently attended events related to his father. Karl never married nor had children. He died on October 31, 1858 in Milan.
