Kim Keeler is Payson's happily married, well-adjusted mother. She functions as a single mom much of the time because Payson's father is often away on business; when he is home, they are affectionate and loving. Kim is Payson's closest confidante throughout the show. She is dependable and trustworthy in that role. Kim has been a stay-at-home mom for most of Payson's life, but she takes a job at The Rock in order to support the family after Payson's injury and subsequent expensive surgery depletes their savings. Kim runs for head of the Rock parent board, but loses to Steve Tanner after Ellen Beals reveals evidence that Payson kissed Sasha. Steve and Ellen join forces thus to undermine Kim's power at the Rock. Although Kim learns from Sasha himself that Payson kissed him, she does not turn against him nor express any misgivings about his training her daughter. In fact, she runs for the position at the Rock primarily because she fears that Steve Tanner will dismiss Sasha as head coach for not prioritizing Lauren's success. Kim is an incredible force of strength on this show and a solid role model for the young women to emulate.
