Lionel Hutz is an incompetent and unscrupulous trial lawyer who operates at a discount law firm at the Springfield Mall, aptly named I Can't Believe it's a Law Firm! When Bart Simpson was very slightly injured after being hit by a car driven by Mr. Burns, it was Hutz who persuaded the Simpsons to exaggerate his injuries and seek a huge tort settlement; they lost when Marge told the truth. Since then he has represented the Simpsons on numerous occasions, usually losing.He is a recovering alcoholic, and he once burned files and changed his name to Miguel Sanchez while babysitting the Simpson children. At one point, he was briefly married to Selma Bouvier.
