Cameron Mitchell (Ben Browder) is a United States Air Force pilot and the new commanding officer of SG-1. He is a enthusiastic leader who is excited about exploring space. When he arrives at the Stargate Command (SGC), he learns that Lt. Colonel Carter, Dr. Jackson, and Teal'c had all left the SGC for new assignments. Mitchell, who reluctantly becomes the leader of a new team, makes it his personal mission to reunite the original SG-1 team. He is joined in his efforts by the alien thief Vala Mal Doran. He is more apt to follow orders than the previous SG-1 leader, Captain Jack O' Neill, and is devoted to defeating the Ori and the Gou'ald. His call sign is Shaft. Background: Originally from Kanas, Mitchell's father was also a fighter pilot. During the Battle of Antarctica, Mitchell was injured while protecting SG-1. It was thought that he may not walk again, but, through stubborn hard work, he did. Before recovering, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and promised any post he wanted by Colonel Jack O'Neill. A year after his recovery, he decided to join the SG-1 team.
