Marvel is the male tribute from District 1. His name is unknown to Katniss until the Victory Tour in the second book; throughout The Hunger Games he is simply known as the boy from District 1 . He is a Career Tribute and Katniss' third kill. He is the second-tallest tribute, shorter only than Thresh, and is very skilled at spear throwing. When only eight tributes remain, he kills Rue by spearing her in the stomach. In the book, Katniss is shown to have launched an arrow through his throat, causing him to drown in his own blood; in the film Katniss shoots an arrow through his heart in retaliation.
