Maxine Johnson was the best friend of Laura Winslow since the 8th grade. Unlike her predecessor, Penny, she was a lot nicer to Steve. It was revealed in season 6, episode 7: Par for the Course, that her mother doesn't care about her well being and she was angry at Laura for being so unappreciating of Harriette's protection of her. That action caused Maxine to set her straight for her selfishess. It was shown again in season 9, episode 5: Who's Afraid of the Big Black Book?, when she and Steve set both Eddie and Laura straight for their pranks. They make them realize how ungrateful they are to have each other. She revealed once again that her own family doesn't care about her at all and Urkel can relate to her because his own experiences with his parents not caring about him is similar to hers.From seasons 4-7, she dated Waldo Geraldo Faldo; despite his stupidity, the two remained loyal to each other throughout their relationship.
