Megamind was sent to Earth at the age of eight days as his planet was being sucked into a black hole. He was raised in the Metro City prison and, as a child, decided his destiny was to be a villain, eventually becoming arch-nemisis to Metro Man as an adult. When he actually manages to destroy Metro Man, he realizes that his life has lost purpose without a hero to fight and decides to create a new one. However, Megamind starts to question whether or not he was really meant to be the bad guy when he falls in love with his frequent kidnapping victim, Roxanne Ritchi, and eventually has no choice but to become the good guy when his creation, Tighten, decides that being good is just too much work.
