Miles Webber is a college professor who is dating Rose Nylund. Quite the opposites of one another, Rose and Miles still make the great couple. Eventually, Rose finds out that Miles is in the Federal Witness Protection Program. Miles was an accountant for a gangster known as The Cheese Man . Miles turned state's evidence against The Cheese Man and turned himself over to government protection. The villain comes after Miles and Rose. However, Rose's next door neighbor Barbara Weston (a cop) saves the day and captures The Cheese Man.When The Golden Girls ended in 1992, the follow-up show The Golden Palace featured Harold Gould in 2 more guest spots as Miles Webber. Rose finds out that Miles has been unfaithful to her. Miles ends up leaving Rose and gets married to another woman.
