Mrs. Sophia Croft (nee Wentworth) is the well travelled wife of Admiral Croft, late of Her Majesty's White, and older sister to Captain Frederick Wentworth. Unlike many Royal Navy wives of the time, she willingly sailed with her husband during all but one of his postings across the British Empire before the Napoleonic Wars forced her to stay ashore. After his retirement from the navy, the Admiral and Mrs. Croft rent Kellynch Hall from Sir Walter Elliot. She attempted a bit of matchmaking for her brother Frederick, but seemed to enjoy commenting on his courtship more. Her last appearance is at Lyme, England, where she and the Admiral were playing cards at Sir Elliot's new lodgings during his retrenchment.
