Nora is the daughter of the lighthouse keeper, Lampie. She is practical and efficient, and in the face of her father's alcoholism it is she who keeps the lighthouse running. She meets Pete in the cave down by the ocean and takes him in, but doesn't believe in Elliot until she sees him. She is unmarried, having fallen in love with Paul, who was lost at sea some years ago. She waits for his return, but without much hope. They are reunited at the end thanks to Elliot's efforts in finding Paul and restoring his memory.
