Assistant director of NCIS mostly in charge of the LA office. It is unclear whether Hetty Lange is his subordinate or equal. Granger and Hetty have a long (possibly intimate) history. He often reins in the team when they get out of hand but he always has their backs in problematic situations. He has no patience for frivolity so Eric is uneasy around him. However, he has made a determined effort to boost Nell's self esteem and mentor her during field work.
