Paul Sobriki
Paul Sobricki is an ER patient who initially presents with head pain in Be Still My Heart (#6.13), but Med Student Lucy Knight eventually determines that his true illness is psychiatric in nature. He is volatile and paranoid and needs constant reassurance. He has alienated his friends. Dr. Carter is back to being dismissive toward Lucy during patient presentations and misses Lucy's critical evaluations of Paul. During the staff Valentine's Day party, Sobricki, a paranoid schizophrenic, ambushes Carterm stabbing him with a knife in his back, when he goes to discipline Lucy for not suturing a patient who has been waiting for four hours. When he collapses on the floor, he sees Lucy in a pool of blood on the other side of the room. No one hears Carter's quick shouts for help or the medical equipment tumbling to the ground because the music from the Valentine's party is too loud. Paul flees the ER without shoes or clothes in his gown ( All in the Family #6.14). Sobricki is brought back to the ER via ambulance after he is hit by a car. Kerry Weaver can't handle working on the very aggitated Sobricki, so passes him to Mark Greene. Paul is sedated when he is brought back in and becomes less combative. His wife is brought into see him, although she initially does not believe that her husband could possibly be schizophrenic.
