Pearly Soames is a demon, (pronounced daemon in his Irish brogue) with a bewitching smile you're given until you've worn his patience thin. Then the savagery and the merciless foundation of his character show through. He is honest to a fault, even when it directly conflicts with his goals. Lucifer, his superior, comments that he would hate to lose Pearly because, you get used to people. You get a sense that while we are told hell is without caring, it may often take deep loves to turn to deep hates.You wish that some kind person had helped Pearly Soames when he was just a 'lowly boy', before there was no room, no room at all, for Pearly Soames in the stars.
