Perd Hapley is a TV reporter and anchor on Pawnee's local channel. He hosts and has hosted several different shows, including, Ya Heard with Perd, and The Last Word with Perd. Perd reports on all the happenings in Pawnee, but has a habit of saying obvious or redundant things, such as, Joining us now is a different person and Yet another twist in a story that just won't stop unfolding. Perd is Pawnee's representation of the media's tendency to pile on and go for simple analysis by simply opening the door for the subjects of a story to talk while filling the transitions with TV news cliches.
