Private Harrigan is part of Joe Enders(Nicolas Cage) squad. His role is a flamethrower soldier a risky and dangerous job, Harrigan shows many times in the movie that he shows regret about killing people and feels bad having to burn them. Harrigan meets an untimely end as he is trying to comfort a japanese girl with chocolate he is shot in the shoulder, he tries to move the girl but gets shot in the leg too. he throws chocolate to the rest of the squad and the little girl runs to safety, Harrigans flamethrower fuel pack is then shot and he bursts into flames screaming in agony. Enders puts him out of his misery as he shoots Harrigan in the head with his pistol.
