In A Princess of Mars, Sarkoja is a nemesis to both John Carter and Dejah Thoris as she hates anything beautiful or loving and is also hateful of Sola. She also despises John Carter and in an act of treachery tries to blind him with a mirror during a duel she basically arranges between a Thark warrior trying to improve his position in the horde and John Carter. In the end Tars Tarkas essentially seals her fate.The movie does an excellent job of portraying Sarkoja exactly as she appears in the book and described above, although the duel mentioned above does not happen in the movie per se. However justice is served with her as you will see!
