Sibylla is seen first at about an hour into the Director's Cut. She appears on a horse in Jerusalem asking to see Balian. He dines with her, Tiberius and her husband Guy. It is obvious that they have an unhappy marriage. Balian meets Sibylla's son and she travels to his household where they have dinner alone together and get to know each other. Soon after this they spend the night together. Guy begins to suspect a relationship between them and Sibylla sees more of Balian. After her brother King Baldwin IV dies (in the Director's cut) Sibylla's son Baldwin V takes the throne but it is revealed he has leprosy. It is implied that Sibylla poisons him to spare him from the suffering her brother, who also had the disease, endured. Sibylla is then crowned Queen of Jerusalem. Guy goes out to fight the invading Muslim army who then capture him and lead a siege on Jerusalem. Sibylla spies on Balian as he gives his speech to the people of Jerusalem. The Muslims invade and a battle ensues. On the night before the conquest of Jerusalem, Sibylla cuts off her long locks of hair and joins the people, tending to the wounded. When Jerusalem is handed over to the Muslims, Balian sees her and says choose not to be queen and I will come to you . Sibylla then leaves for France with Balian.According to Ridley Scott, he wanted Sibylla to withdraw to a convent in the end to do penance for her sins of adultery and euthanasia. However the studio wanted the movie to end with Balian and Sibylla together.
