Until 1961, Harry Warden was just an ordinary man, working in the Hanniger Mine in the town of Valentine Bluffs, Nova Scotia. He was 1 of 5 miners working down in the mine on the night of February 14, 1961, and 2 supervisors were waiting for him & his co-workers to come up. The supervisors left their posts before the men were safely out, in order to get to the town's annual Valentine's dance. They had also failed to check for dangerous levels of methane gas, and when one of Warden's co-workers lit a match, the methane exploded, causing a cave-in and burying Harry Warden and the others alive. For 6 weeks, other miners dug around the clock to try to rescue the men. Only Harry Warden was fund alive; he had resorted to cannibalism of his dead co-workers in order to survive. After 1 year in a mental institute, Warden returned to Valentine Bluffs - killing the 2 supervisors who had abandoned the men to their fate the previous year, cutting out their hearts & putting them in candy boxes, then delivering them to the dance. An ominous warning threatened more carnage if a Valentine's dance was ever held again. 20 years after that, it appears Harry Warden has come back...to seek vengeance on a group of 20-something men & their girlfriends holding a party at the Hanniger mine....
