The Phantom is descended from 20 previous generations of crime-fighters who all adopt the same persona. When a new Phantom takes the task from his dying father, he swears the Oath of the Skull: I swear to devote my life to the destruction of piracy, greed, cruelty, and injustice, in all their forms, and my sons and their sons shall follow me . He lives in the jungles of Bengalla and is known as The Ghost Who Wals . He is based from the Skull Cave, where his ancestors are buried. The first Phantom was a cabin boy aboard his father's ship. His name was Christopher Walker. Their ship was attacked by pirates of The Singh Brotherhood. Christopher fell overboard, but the last thing he saw was his father killed by a pirate. He was washed ashore on a Bengalla beach, and was found by some Bandar tribesmen, who had escaped slavery by the Wasaka tribe.
