The Robot
The Robot
The Lost in Space Robot didn't have an actual name in the TV series, it was simply called Robot although some know it as the B9 . It was designed by Japanese engineer Robert Kinoshita who also did the renderings for Robby the Robot . The Lost in Space Robot cost approx. $75,000.00 to build. Two working models/costumes were made for the show and a third was made of lightweight material for scenes requiring it to Fly in space . Bob May was the actor inside the Robot and Dick Tufeld provided his voice. A fully functional twin of the Lost in Space Robot is owned by HighTechScience.org of Florida which loans it to science museums around the country.
