Thomas Tommy Gavin is the main protagonist of Rescue Me. He is a New York City firefighter working in upper Manhattan.Tommy is assigned to an active house and he'd lost many friends and co-workers during the World Trade Center attacks, including his best friend and cousin Jimmy Keefe whose ghost continues to haunt Tommy. Tommy also faces many personal issues including marital issues, alcohol abuse, and involvement in many other controversial issues throughout the several seasons.He is portrayed by Denis Leary.
