Tony Mendez put his skills to work in an operation known as the Canadian caper, conducted during the hostage crisis. His mission is to extricate American diplomats from Tehran, where they are hiding out in the homes of Canadian allies. Mendez participates in the CIA operation that sent operatives into Iran, posing as a Canadian film crew scouting locations for a science fiction movie. The group, including Mendez, successfully exits Iran with the American diplomats carrying Canadian passports.
