VERNE NEWTON BROWN (Daniel Evans, Troy Davidson), in the Back to the Future franchise, is the younger son of Dr. Emmett L. Brown and Clara Clayton Brown. He has an older brother, named Jules. Their parents named both boys after that great author of speculative fiction, Jules Verne. In addition, Emmett named his son Verne after Sir Isaac Newton.
