Battalion Chief Wallace Boden is a scarred veteran of the fire department. Chief Boden has an unwavering dedication to the firefighters and paramedics under his supervision and has earned their loyalty. Chief Boden attempts to mentor a young boy who is found at several fire scenes, questioning whether this kid Ernie is the arsonist who has set the fires. He invites the boy to the firehouse and takes an interest in him, determined to get him help.
