Aubrey is Karen's younger sister, who arrives in Tokyo to take Karen home, but Karen dies. She is devasted, especially since she and her sister were estranged, and now she can never make ammends. She is infected by the curse when she is pulled into the house while standing outside. Towards the end, she accepts her fate, and returns to the house to face the curse. She is then trapped in a death-echo (as Kayako) and her neck is snapped by Takeo, and is left to die. In her final moments, she experiences the pain Kayako did before dying. Aubrey now haunts the Saeki house, while Kayako is free to roam beyond the house, taking the curse to a whole new level.
