Bjorn is the young first-born son of Ragnar and Lagertha who, at age 12, has just come of age in Viking society. Bjorn looks up to his fierce warrior father and longs to fight in the raids along with him, despite the fact he is still inexperienced.He is already brave, and does not hesitate to step into a physical confrontation between his parents.He is upset to be left in the care of the former Christian monk Athelstan, the slave Ragnar captured from Lindisfarne.Although he is loyal to his father, he feels the same toward his mother and grows upset when he sees Ragnar beginning to take an interest in another woman.As he grows old enough to join in the raids he quickly proves himself a capable warrior and becomes known as Bjorn Ironside as he appears unbreakable.Background: He has a younger sister, Gyda.
