Dr. Carlos Sanchez is a forensic pathologist heading the Palm Glades Coroner's Department as well as a colleague of the new detective in town, Jim Longworth.Though he appreciates and respects Jim's skill and expertise when investigating a murder, Carlos has less patience or use for the man's sarcastic wit and seeming total disrespect for the expertise/work of others within the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Still, Carlos considers Jim a friend and even golfs with him on the weekends. During the week, between autopsies and toxicology screens, Carlos seems to spend the majority of his time smoothing the ruffled feathers left behind by Jim's bold and insensitive tactics.Carlos also pleads with Jim to follow appropriate channels, but finds himself carried away by the shared zeal for the hunt, often finding himself scampering after the fact to obtain the correct documentation to keep evidence -- or even out right confessions -- from being unusable due to technicalities with which Jim simply can't be bothered. This less-than-ideal process often lands Carlos in hot water with his superiors.He is also a devoted husband and father.
