Dr. Clarkson is the Crawley family's doctor and makes regular house calls due to the seemingly many ailments that befall its members. Dr. Clarkson is certainly competent enough and the family generally trusts him, but he's also the only game in town and might not always be right with this diagnoses or preferred methods of treatment. Dr. Clarkson has an interesting relationship with Isobel Crawley, whose help he welcomes early on when she volunteers to help him at the village hospital -- a decision he might eventually regret.
