Ethel is a new maid introduced in the second season. She is outspoken and does not like being told what to do by anyone, which often sees her conflicting with Anna or Mrs Hughes. She is the type who would commit the ghastly sin of sitting on the furniture in the house. This rebellious streak gets her into some serious trouble. She says that she does not want to be in service for the rest of her life and often complains about her surroundings. She soon finds there are fates worse than being a servant in a huge mansion.
