Detective Sargent Ray Miles is a veteran of the London Police Department working in the Whitechapel district. Miles has little patience for the paper pushing DIs that come through Whitechapel, and is initially hostile towards DI Joe Chandler. As the two work the copycat killings of Jack the Ripper, the two find common ground and eventually become friends. On his off hours, Miles relaxes by tending to his pond, in the backyard of his home, and feeding the fish that live in them.
