The Ferry Girl is a young woman who lives out in the woods. She owns a little boat which uses to work as a ferry boat captian, helping people across the river for a thirty dollar fee. She helps Inman and Veasey escape from a Confederate Home Guard(CHG) unit who is searching for them. When they are halfway across the river, they're ambushed by the CHG and the ferry girl is shot dead. It was implied that she might have also been a prostitute when she tells Inman and Veasey during the boat ride that she'll take them to her cabin and take off her dress for thirty more dollars.
