Galbatorix was once a Dragon Rider as Brom and Eragon, but he betrayed the order to most all of their deaths. His faithful servant, Morzan, the father of Murtagh, was killed by Brom years before Eragon first found Saphira. Galbatorix's first dragon was killed by Urgals and he went before the order to request another. He was refused. Enraged, he stole a dragon egg from the Riders' collection and used powerful magic to make the Dragon serve him. Galbatorix's magic power seems to never end. It normally takes a person the same amount of energy to perform something with magic as it would in reality. Galbatorix never grows weary. This mystery has yet to be explained.
