Gran Gran is the nickname given to Kanna by her grandchildren, Katara and Sokka. She is a non-bender and the eldest resident of the Southern Water Tribe. She looks after the children after their mother Kya is killed and their father Hakoda leaves to fight the Fire Nation. She has been wanting a reason to hope after a lifetime of war and eventually finds it when her grandchildren encounter Aang, the Avatar.
