Harriet Jones is visiting 10 Downing Street in 2006 as a representative of her tiny little Flydale North constituency when an alien spacecraft crashes into the River Thames. She meets the Ninth Doctor when he and his companion Rose Tyler come to investigate the crash and they get wrapped up in a Slitheen attempt to overtake the government.Harriet Jones later serves as British Prime Minister from 2006 to 2008 and launches a space program that leads to an invasion by the Sycorax.She later develops the Subwave Network, an intuitive system used to locate anyone who has dealings with the Doctor. Through this network she locates Sarah Jane Smith, a reporter, and Martha Jones.She has a habit of flashing her ID to identify herself, even as Prime Minister.
