Holly comes to the Dunder-Mifflin Scranton Branch as a replacement for former HR rep (and Michael's nemesis) Toby. Michael prepares to hate her as well, but ends up being entranced by her and plans ways to impress her. It turns out that Michael and Holly are a perfect match - she is filled with dorky comments and a little bit less stupidity that makes her the yin to Michael's yang. They date for a short while, but CEO David Wallace catches the two kissing at an office fundraiser at transfers Holly to an out-of-state branch, leaving Michael truly heartbroken for the first time and desperately seeking closure.
