Irena is an orphan girl that the group came across near Lake Baikal. In the first moment, Irena says that her parents were polish farmers and were killed by soviets when they invaded Warsaw. Eventually Mr. Smith find out this can't be true since at that time the Russians haven't reached Warsaw yet. Irena then tells her true: her parents were polish communists that moved to Moscow, and when Stalin reached the power, the hotel they were in was invaded, and her parents killed. She is then sent to a collective farm, form which she ran away.
