Long thought to be dead by son Nick Burkhardt -- Portland homicide detective and budding Grimm -- Kelly Burkhardt is revealed to be alive, well and quite aggressive in her attitude toward ridding the world of Wesen. A Grimm herself, she is the sister of Marie Kessler and the widow of Reed Burkhardt. She claims to have always loved her son very much, but disappeared in order to keep him out of harm's way for as long as possible. A more traditional or old-school type of Grimm, she is somewhat horrified by her son's tolerance and, in some cases, outright friendship of Portland-area Wesens.
