Leslie Arzt is a high school science teacher who survived the Oceanic Flight 815 crash with the group in the main fuselage. He gets irritated at not being included in Jack and Locke's various expeditions before he's finally invited to come along on one -- with disastrous consequences. He does give the survivors a bit of advice that will serve them well in the long run.
