Luther Wainwright replaced Madeline Hightower as Agent in Charge of the CBI's Homicide Division. Jane had little respect for him, calling him a Momma's Boy, causing Wainwright to fire Jane. Despite this, he advised reaching out to Jane after his faked nervous breakdown. He was shot and killed by FBI Agent Susan Darcy during a botched sting operation designed to trap Red John, when it was discovered that he had been kidnapped and placed in the back of the limo, and Red John was talking through a burner phone.
