Mason is the dhampir best friend of Rose. He has a crush on her. In the second book, Rose gives him a shot while trying to move on from her feelings for her mentor, Dimitri. He is killed by a Stirgoi in front of Rose, who takes her vengeance, earning her her first Stirgoi kill, in the second book. In the third book he comes to Rose as a ghost several times, trying to warn her of something however not being able to communicate with her until a Stirgoi attack on the school.
