Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg)On the surface Matt Parkman is a typical LAPD uniformed beat cop. He longs to be a detective but has yet to pass the test due to his dyslexia.It turns out that Parkman has the ability to read minds. He discovers this power at a crime scene and finds it immediately helpful in solving the case and rescuing a little girl named Molly who also has a power: to locate anything. He becomes very protective of her and knows she fears someone named Sylar.While his telepathy helps him advance professionally, his power does damage at home where thing were already on rocky ground.When Matt encounters Noah Bennet and The Haitian he has bigger problems as he begins to understand The Company may have nefarious plans for those with superpowers such as himself and Molly. ( The Haitian has the power to block others' powers.)Like a few of the others with powers Matt is fundamentally a decent guy who wants to use his powers for good and to help other people not for personal gain. He is a burly, warm-hearted man with a sense of humor and a detective's instincts But when he is pushed or those he cares about are threatened he can become dangerous.
