His full name is Max Arturo Medina. His middle name reffers to his parents butcher who gave his mother big porkchops for the price of normal-sized porkchops during her pregnancy.Max Medina is Rory's English-teacher.Lorelai and Max meet at Chilton at a PTA-meeting and end up dating a while later. They date for a while and break up, but get together only to get engaged. Max pops the question in order to solve a fight him and Lorelai were having. Lorelai refuses, stating that that's not the way it is supposed to happen and that there had to be a 1000 yellow daisies. Upon which Max deliveres 1000 yellow daisies to the Independence Inn and Lorelai accepts his proposal. Yet when Lorelai realizes she isn't head-over-heels in love with Max she calls off the engagement.Max bought Lorelai a vintage engagement ring.When Paris finds out Max and Lorelai have broken up she assigns Rory to interview Mr. Medina for the school paper. Max and Rory end up telling each other how much they wanted to be each others stepdaughter and stepfather.Max returns in another episode in a later season in which he bumps into Lorelai. He claims to be over her but when he ends up kissing her, he realizes he isn't quite yet.
