Phillipe Broullet was an international photographer and childhood friend of Simon and Sylivia Broome. At some point, Phillipe was recruited to work with Ajene Xola, a man trying to overthrow Dr. Edmond Zuwanie's corrupt regime. Phillipe unknowingly led Simon and Xola into a lethal trap when he received word that exiled freedom fighter Kuman Kuman wanted to meet with Xola to form an alliance. Phillipe was the only one to survive the ambush and fled to New York where he met with Sylvia to give her Simon's possessions. At first he claimed that he did not know where Simon was, but later confessed that Simon was killed by Zuwanie's men. Phillipe felt guilty because he unwittingly led Simon and Xola to Zuwanie.
