Rafe is a divorced private investigator with an expired license who works out of an abandoned movie theatre. He meets Katherine at the police station where she goes to report her brother Caleb's disappearance. When the police respond apathetically to Katherine's plea, Rafe, seated conveniently within earshot ( presumably waiting for prospective clients ), quickly intercedes and offers his services. He is hired by Katherine and quickly follows Caleb's trail to the nefarious Bordello. There Rafe crosses paths with the beautiful vampire Lillith, who becomes enamored of Rafe because of his rare blood type.
